Reading commitment
Balanced Moderate time
Short-to-moderate commitment: episodic chapters make it easy to read a chapter or two per sitting; expect older-style sentences and leisurely scene-setting.
What stands out here
This Amereon Ltd. catalog record highlights Baum’s original text and the continued appeal of Dorothy’s return with the Wizard rather than new critical apparatus.
Best way to approach it
Approach it as a vintage children’s fantasy: savor Baum’s descriptive passages and episodes, read aloud or in small chunks to appreciate the invented creatures and set pieces.
